Quiz time: Which country has the most armed citizenry? The USA? No. Perhaps I should qualify this a bit further. Which country has a citizenry where nearly every home has a fully automatic assault rifle in the closet? Definitely not the USA. Such guns here are illegal. Which country has gun control laws prohibiting its citizens from being defenseless? And finally, which country has one of the world’s lowest crime rates? The answer to all four questions is Switzerland! Fully armed, peaceful, and safe. Quite a paradox from the lies we’re being told about the dangers of private gun ownership.
Another quiz: Where is the harshest gun (and any other weapon) control practiced against its population? And where is the highest murder rate of any population? Once again, same answer to both questions: Federal Prisons.
Why did our Founders constitutionally protect our rights to protect ourselves? Why are America’s liberals and our international enemies working so hard to disarm Americans? And why are they jumping on every illegal “gun incident” as a reason to disarm us all? Good questions, and we’ll try to answer them in today’s column.
If you’ve been watching the news, you noticed how liberals are trying to outdo each other in their fervor against private gun ownership. And of course, the media has been applauding their efforts. But something you have not heard from any of the anti-gunners is the statistics of legal gun ownership. You have heard only hysterics.
First, let’s look at Concealed Weapons permits in Virginia, Kentucky and South Carolina. Over 193,000 permits have been issued. There are 193,000 people who are legally packing guns. Pretty frightening? It is to the liberals who want those permits confiscated. Next, let’s look at the number of gun-related crimes committed by those 193,000 gun carriers. How many gun-related crimes were committed among those 193,000 legally packing? None. That’s correct. None! If they were a city, it would be the safest city in the world’s history.
This does not come as a surprise to anyone who has read Professor John Lott’s book More Guns, Less Crime. Dr. Lott was an anti-gunner who wanted to write a book that would help him disarm America. But as he examined FBI crime statistics, he discovered that those areas that had the greatest concentration of gun ownership had the smallest incident of crime. Those areas with the harshest anti-gun laws had the highest incidence of crime. Further, the good professor discovered that non-gun carriers were made safer by the gun carriers. In the areas where lots of people packed guns, it seemed that bad guys didn’t know which people had a gun. The bad guys just didn’t want to take the risk of finding out, so they did their crimes elsewhere. It was easier shearing sheep than lions.
Now that we know this, the anti-gunners should be laughed off the stage. But they won’t be. Their mission is just too important. Jewish historian Aaron Zellman’s studies of the Jewish Holocaust led him to study many other atrocities against peoples groups throughout history. Dr. Zellman discovered one frightening trend: The group to be eliminated was first disarmed. The group to be disarmed had their weapons forcibly registered with the government, before the disarming began.
Are you thankful that our Founding Fathers forbade our government from disarming you? I am. Are we willing to allow our Founding Fathers’ efforts to go down in flames?
